PHOTOGRAPHERS, ANSWER MY CALL FOR ASSISTANCE!!!!

Take a look at this picture. It's amazing ain't it? While not as sharp as some night shots I've seen come out, it's still a beautiful picture that captures enough detail without the distraction of a flash or it being too dark.

Now my question is, how do I get a shot like this?! I bought a Canon Powershot 480. A simple digital camera I know. I've tried my best to take some night shots at Old Town recently and I thought they came out good, until I saw them on the computer and they were out of focus or blurry. I hated it. :(

Can anyone offer me tips with such a camera? Please help thanks!
